This was a favorite teaching of his [Rabbi Yishmael]:
Do not render decisions alone; there is but One who judges alone.
Never say to your colleagues: “You must adopt my view”;
the prerogative is theirs, not yours to coerce.
Rabbi Posen responded to this teaching:
Simply put, we are better together. We are better individuals when we listen to each other and strengthen one another.
